Trip to Long Beach - let's figure out those food allergies!

We went down to Long Beach at the end of November since Avery got into the SoCal Food Allergy Institute - https://socalfoodallergy.org/ They did skin and blood tests and while we don't know the results of the blood tests yet, the skin test results left us feeling pretty positive! The only positives were peanut, almond, walnut and sesame (they didn't test salmon as that will be in the blood test) which was very similar to the tests done here at home in October. We were told that the blood tests can pick up more (the skin tests are not absolute)... but definitely feeling hopeful!

Somehow we hit all the rain and terrible weather during the week we were there (even had an emergency alert sent to our cell phones warning of possible flooding!).

Note: Pics are better resolution when you click on them and go through album.

Brought all our buddies with us

All dressed up for the flight!

Any chance we can all take a nap? :)

Made it to Long Beach and stopped off at the bbq joint.

Somehow, we got convinced to go on this ferris wheel. It was a blast! We don't need roller coasters.

View from our room... the water was nice until lots of garbage started floating past! Pool view too... and we were in the only ones to go in the pool the whole time, lol!

Waiting in the clinic

He didn't mind the actual test (each antigen is next to a dot, plus there's a control spot lower down that's the biggest one) but had trouble holding still for the 15 minutes until we could read it. Lollipops saved the day.

Strangely, this kid is fine with having blood taken.

Pool time! It was heated but pretty chilly when not moving around... Avery seemed to think he could swim (and then starting cannon balling off the side into Mike's arms).

Aquarium time

Hmmm... there seemed to be only beer and peanut butter sandwiches at their cafeteria... well, okay, there were a few more things too...

Next time, we're going to the actual beach!
Happy Thanksgiving! We returned to the bbq joint.

Sure, Vanessa, eat some turkey!

Queen Mary ship

Got some sun (finally!) and saw Soheila and Danny.

Home and at a birthday party!

Oahu 2017!!

Hawaii lived up to expectations again and frankly, with a toddler in tow, it really is the perfect place to go!! Flight is not too long (just long enough!), weather is pretty consistent and it's easy to navigate. There is the problem of the exchange rate these days but I guess you just shorten your trip! We went with Mike's family and that meant many available babysitters. ;) hehe

Let's read about planes!
Snack time!
to Mike!!
