Etretat, France

After leaving Paris, we decided to take the scenic route to the Normandy coast. We had a 3 course lunch in a small town called Cambremer (great value and delicious, so yes, prices are much better than Paris). 3 courses are a big thing to do for lunch or dinner but I can't imagine how people eat that much all of the time. I think this is the only time we've only done it and those were lunch portions.

We also stopped in a cidery called Domaine Dupont along the way since Normandy is famous for its cider and checked out the town of Beuvron-en-Auge (voted most beautiful town in France in some contests). We finally reached Etretat, where we stayed in the Detective Hotel. We climbed to the top of the famous cliffs and wandered around the town…pretty quiet but I suppose it gets quite busy during the summer. Cute place but can’t imagine staying more than 1 night. There were a lot of bugs when we climbed to the top of the cliffs so I had to google 'bugs in Etretat' when we got back to the hotel and ended up getting the bedbug report for the town instead! It said that had only been one report filed about a local hotel and it was actually ours...we spent the night a bit nervous but saw no signs of anything amiss in our room.

Springtime in Europe has also meant allergy season for Mike and it’s been especially bad. While he is overdosing on Allegra D, it doesn’t seem to be working as well this year…poor guy. :(

Leaving Paris...going to do a couple of loops around the Arc de Triomphe.
A real hamburger. Like as in a patty of ham.
Lunch stop...it was actually busier but we got there late and were the last to leave.
Let's check out this cider!

Hmm...this could be a while.
Detective Hotel - each room was themed. Ours was a French detective named Nestor Burma.
Burma likes boobies. Ah yes, welcome to our room!
Complete with handcuffs!
Town of Etretat
Strangely, we saw casinos in many small towns...who knew gambling was so big over here?

Mike tried a galette for dinner. I did too but stuck with more ordinary ingredients (so not photo worthy). His had intestine of a pig which you can see mixed with egg (he didn't know this until later, when he looked up what 'andouille de guemene' was). Then he realized he'd eaten that twice in one day since he had a charcuterie plate earlier with this on it! hahaha
My favourite photo of the cliffs
Cheesy
Found some goat cheese chocolate and it was yummy!
On our way to Belgium
Dieppe - beach where raid happened and many Canadians died.
Ah Belgium, the land of 1000 plus beers.
