Grand Canyon and some last thoughts on Utah

The Grand Canyon has been our favourite spot so far...much more to see and do there and we didn't have time for it all! We only stayed 2 nights. Next time we'll have to do the 2 day hike to Phantom Ranch.

On the way to the Grand Canyon

Colorado River

Look at that sexy guy...still growing his beard. ;)

Made it to the hotel

Up very early for our hike at Grand Canyon. They have these shuttles that you catch everywhere to take you to spots so here we are...ready to do the South Kaibab Trail. Think it's about 7am.

Start of South Kaibab...

Got there! Could continue on to the Colorado River and Phantom Ranch but that's a 2 day hike and we wouldn't want to do that all in 1 day...would we? Mike? :)

Finished the hike in just over 3 hours (shorter than expected and I gave it my all so that I could go back and take a nap...that ambitious husband of mine thought that we should rent bikes in the afternoon to cycle the 14 mile trail that the shuttles take you on...!!). He also shaved!!!! Hoorah! He'll probably be mad that I'm drawing attention to this, hahaha.
Gift shop = shopping...but we wouldn't go in there...or would we?

And instead of renting bikes, I managed to convince him to take the shuttle to the scenic points and then stop for patio drinks at El Tovar (beautiful hotel built in 1905 right in Grand Canyon village)...he enjoyed it! :) We watched the beautiful sunset.

Side trip to Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park in Utah on our way out of Grand Canyon. That's Mike frolicking...

I couldn't keep up so I kept taking pictures instead.

Some last pics from Utah:

Our cute cabin overlooking the Buffalo meadow

Yup, we started to really like these guys!!!

Restaurant there...yummy cheese smothered all over this corn!

Few last pics of the Narrows...

  1. The pics of the Narrows are killing us!! AWESOME!! I'm sure you've got tons lined up, but just in case...we loved this while in NOLA http://www.neworleansschoolofcooking.com/ Did the group demo class...got some great NOLA history, so much food, some beer (don't eat before you go if you do it!). Have fun!!!
