So we've been on the road for a week (not counting the short stop in Kelowna) and we're finally getting around to the travel blog...actually we have some good excuses...we haven't had a lot of internet (we were camping, been in mountainous areas, etc.) so here you go! Pictures speak louder than words, right?

We went to Spokane, Washington for our first night and stayed in a wolf sanctuary in Bozeman, Montana for our 2nd night, headed down into Yellowstone Park and the Grand Tetons to experience some camping (on a twin air mattress, oh my, talk about a tricky roll over situation!), checked out Teton Village in the Jackson Hole area (ski village) and now we find ourselves in Utah (having seen Bryce Canyon and Zion). We've tried some whitewater rafting, eaten lots, hiked lots (including a crazy hike today called the Narrows in Zion, where we traversed a river for most of the 6 hours), tried the dodgy motel situation once, watched bison create a traffic jam and have probably taken way more pics than we'll ever have time to look at (already!). We have lots more pics but have had trouble uploading (slow connection). Ok, here you go...we won't be offended if you snooze off. ;)

Let's purple it up for the trip!

We woke up to the howling at midnight and 4am but it was super cool!

Camping in Yellowstone

Drank this in Montana!

A little truffle salt on everything makes camping food taste delicious!

First view of the bison...
Not an every day view!

Hiking in Yellowstone

Guess who blocked a hiking trail later...although perhaps we were the ones in the way. :)

Trying to catch dinner...unsuccessful

The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. We'll have to compare it to the real one.
More of Yellowstone
2nd Yellowstone campsite
This one is for you Winks!

Old Faithful in Yellowstone...goes off every 90 mins or so.

Checked out a local rodeo

Waiting for another meal...accommodation unknown at this point but first things first.

Time to splurge and stay in a hotel in Teton Village...it had super old elevators!

Taking the lift up to the top.

Reached the top

Here is the hotel...had much needed showers after the 3 nights of camping.

Concentrating

Salt Lake City - Temple Square

Motel stop in Richfield, 2nd cheapest place...

Thankfully we didn't stay here...although we were tempted...looked pretty dodgy when we pulled in here at 10pm.

Bryce Canyon

What a hike - Zion

  2. You guys...thanks so much for sharing your blog! And I have to tell you...it's is making my stomach go in knots bringing back such fabulous memories that I'm just able to hold myself back from throwing Cameron and Lily in the car and heading out again :-) We went to Zion specifically to do the Narrows hike but it was closed because of high waters...glad to see you got to do it!!! Amazing parks! If you go through Canada on your return trip, there's always a bed in Calgary for you :-)

  3. B&B - Thanks!!! :) Hope you guys are doing well. We need to catch up when we get back.

Cam/Meg - I didn't realize that you guys had been to Zion...beautiful place! They actually closed the trail too but not until after we had left. When we were heading back, I kept wondering why we didn't see many people...until we reached the end and I saw the warning about flash floods! Thanks for the offer...may take you up on it sometime! :) Might try shipping the car back on this trip but haven't figured this out yet. Hope you guys are doing well!
